Singapore one day walking trip

The day turned out to be nice and warm. This was a perfect day to be at the beach. I took my friend out to the beach at Marine Parade. We packed our lunch over at the coffee shop and bought ourselves each 2 bottles of water and a bag of chips for our little picnic down by the beach side.

My friend was very pleased by the fact that he can have a meal by the beach and i was indeed happy to hear this comment. He said that it was his first time having a picnic by the beach. He too will be flying over to Pattaya tonight for a 4 days holiday trip visiting his friend over there. I told him to be careful of his wallet, a advice that his parents gave me while i was there...:D

Later, we went by to see the Icons of Singapore.....the Merlion. Already, there were a few tourist taking pictures with the Merlion and we took ours too. I thought that every tourist whom comes by Singapore for the first time, must and will like to visit Singapore's Icon, where all whom has visited Singapore will know.

This was the route that we took, it was a good walking trip if you are a first-timer to Singapore and wants to take a quick tour of Singapore's Icon area.

First alight from City Hall MRT and exit on the left hand side exit. Once, you've come out onto the platform, turn left and continue to walk down. On your left side, you'll see this huge church compound and on the right side, you'll see cars zooming down the road.

At the junction, you turn left again and just continue walking. At the end of the path, you'll see across the road, a big wide field where at both ends stands the Singapore Recreation Club. Don't cross the road instead turn right this time and cross the road where you are.

Now, you'll see many Parliament houses or historical buildings along this path and just continue walking, you will see the Singapore River. Here, you will see the white statue of Sir Stamford Raffles staring directly at you. At the end of this path, you will be able to see the bridge which links over to the other side of the Skyscrapers and huge buildings and buildings of banks as well. Like the Bank of China etc... Here, you will also see the Fullerton Hotel, we went into the lobby and used the toilet to freshen up ourselves before we head on down again which is the opposite of back of the hotel - where you will find the Icons of Singapore - the Merlion.

You can take a leisure walk on the walkway as there are plenty of restaurants for a nice meal or cafes to rest those tired legs of yours. Sipping and smelling away the aroma of your coffee and seeing the crowd walk by, its a nice feeling...

If not, you can again walk over the long bridge that connects down to the esplanade where there is a daily concoction of theatre works and plays going on there. Or what we did was, we took a quick stroll in the library which overlooks the sea and buildings. Its free entry and most importantly....its AIR-CONDITION to cool you down....:)

Again, we took to the road and walked down to the Singapore Flyer which was completed early this year. But, our main purpose was not to seat on the Singapore Flyer but to try the Popeye's Chicken and Biscuit....LOL

So, this was how we spend a day visiting a few places where i call home in a very inexpensive way. If you have a friend visiting Singapore, you could try this route out or play by the ear...nothing is fixed, just let go and enjoy...

(Some interesting pixs that i took along my way a the Singapore River)

a walking trip around Singapore sounds nice! I have seen some of those icons-the merlion, Sir Raffles, and even the children jumping into the river! What is the Singapore Flyer?
